EverLights: The Most Invisible System

When homeowners ask me about permanent holiday lighting, their number one concern is almost always: "Is it going to look ugly and noticeable on my house during the day?"

While most premium systems (like Gemstone or JellyFish) use an aluminum track installed underneath the soffit, EverLights took a completely different engineering approach. They designed a system that is arguably the most invisible option on the market during daylight hours. I've installed several of these systems for clients who are highly particular about their daytime curb appeal.

The Gutter Installation Method

Instead of using a bulky track that mounts to the underside of the house, EverLights are designed to be installed directly into the drip edge or the face of your existing metal gutters.

1. Drilling: The installer (or you, if DIYing) drills small, precise holes every 9 inches along the gutter line and the metal drip edge of the roof.
2. Insertion: The EverLight LED pucks are pushed tightly through the holes from the inside of the gutter, snapping securely into place.
3. Concealment: The wiring runs completely inside the gutter channel, hidden from view and protected from wind.

Total Invisibility: Because there is no track, and the lens of the LED sits nearly flush with the metal of the gutter, it is literally impossible to see the lights from the street during the day unless you know exactly where to look.

Brightness and Color

Because the lights are mounted on the face of the gutter (pointing directly outward) rather than under the soffit (pointing downward to wash the wall), EverLights provide a distinctly different aesthetic at night.

• Traditional Look: They mimic the look of traditional C9 bulbs pointing straight at the street. If you want that classic "string light" look rather than a modern wall-wash effect, EverLights is perfect.
• App Control: Like all premium systems, it is completely app-controlled. You can choose from millions of colors, set animations (chasing, twinkling), and schedule the lights to turn on and off automatically from your smartphone.

• Daytime Aesthetics: The absolute best system on the market for being completely unnoticeable during the day. HOA boards rarely complain about this system.
• Classic Look: Outward-pointing LEDs look more like traditional string lights rather than modern architectural uplighting.
• Cost: Because there are no aluminum tracks to manufacture or paint-match, EverLights is often slightly more affordable than track-based systems.

My Experience (Cons)

• Gutter Cleaning Nightmare: The delicate wires and connections are sitting directly inside your gutters. If you hire a careless company to clean your gutters with shovels or high-pressure water, they can easily snag a wire and rip the lights out.
• Ice Dams: In heavy winter climates, solid ice expanding inside the gutters can put pressure on the wiring system.
• No Architectural Lighting: Because they point outward, they are strictly holiday/event lights. You cannot use them to wash the walls with warm white light for year-round security/architectural lighting (which track systems excel at).

Estimated Cost Breakdown

EverLights offers a very competitive price point within the permanent lighting sector. Here are current 2026 estimates:

• Installed Cost: When hiring an authorized dealer, expect to pay between $18.00 and $24.00 per linear foot.
• Total Project: For an average two-story home requiring 150 linear feet of lighting on the front elevation, expect a total installed cost of $2,700 to $3,600.
• DIY Option: EverLights is one of the few premium companies that explicitly sells DIY kits to homeowners. If you are comfortable on a tall ladder and own a drill, you can purchase the kits directly and install them for roughly $12.00 to $15.00 per linear foot.

The App and Customization

The EverLights app allows for extreme customization.

• Zoning: You can create specific zones. For example, you can have the lower roofline glow orange for Halloween while the upper roofline twinkles in purple.
• Preset Patterns: The app comes loaded with dozens of preset patterns for every major holiday, from the Fourth of July to St. Patrick's Day.
