The Foundation: C9 Bulbs

The absolute cornerstone of the classic aesthetic is the C9 bulb.

Unlike the tiny "mini lights" that became popular in the 2000s, C9s are large, strawberry-shaped bulbs. Historically, these were massive, glass incandescent bulbs that burned incredibly hot and consumed terrifying amounts of electricity. Today, you must purchase commercial-grade LED C9s.

To achieve the true classic look, you must strictly limit your color palette. The most elegant, timeless choice is exclusively using Warm White bulbs (often labeled as "Soft White" or having a color temperature around 2700K).

Stark, bright white (Cool White/5000K) LEDs will make your house look like a sterile hospital operating room. Warm white mimics the soft, yellow-orange glow of candlelight and vintage incandescents. When used exclusively on the roofline, wrapped around columns, and woven through the front landscaping, it creates a deeply unified, magical glow.
